About Wolfe RanchIn 1998 we purchased ten acres at the back of Johnston Road. We had often talked about owning a large property, but thought we would have to go to the central valley to find a large amount of land. One day, Lori was running down Johnston Road and saw a “for sale” sign on the property where she would always run past really fast due to a big Doberman barking at her. When she ran home, she told Phil about the parcel. He called the realtor and we looked at the property and made an offer. When we were selling our other home on Johnston Road, we owned half of a neighbor’s well. The neighbor offered Phil five pregnant cows to sign over the well. We took him up on his offer and that was the beginning of our herd. Eventually, we moved to angus cattle and then Phil decided he wanted to raise Wagyu beef. This might have been due to Phil living in Japan twice. We have now lived here nine years and our children have grown up on this property.
